SWAN congratulates Bayelsa United, Queens for winning 2021 AITEO Cup

The Bayelsa State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN has congratulated Bayelsa Queens and Bayelsa United for emerging Champions in this year’s edition of the men and Women’s AITEO Cup.

A statement signed by the Chairman of SWAN, Mr. Datonye Alambo and Secretary, Mr. Preye Yabrifa commends the teams for their sterling display which resulted in them winning the coveted trophy.

The Statement equally gives thumbs up to the Bayelsa State Government, the State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, the Management of Bayelsa Queens and Bayelsa United, other stakeholders and Journalists for their roles in ensuring the victory.

It urges the State government and Management of Bayelsa United to leave no stone unturned in the quest to prepare the team for the CAF Confederation Cup.

SWAN Bayelsa also Congratulates Bayelsa born Blessing Oborududu for clinching a silver medal at the just concluded Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

It acknowledges the relentless efforts of the Caretaker Chairman of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation and the Board of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Daniel Igali the Federal and Bayelsa State Government, the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and others who worked tirelessly to prepare Oborududu and other athletes to achieve the feat.

The body however charges Government at the Federal, State and Local levels to invest more in Sports, sporting facilities and the development of the sporting talent of the Nigerian youths to enable the country perform optimally in global competitions such as the Olympics.
