Bayelsa State Chairman of HOSTCOM, HRH. Albert Kerekebunah made the commendation in his office in Yenagoa during an interview with Niger Delta Herald.

According to the traditional ruler, Engr. Simbi Wabote has brought the NCDMB to the fore in terms of actualizing the 70% Nigerian content in the oil and gas industry.

While calling on Bayelsans particularly to rally round Engr. Wabote to enable him carry out more developmental activities in Bayelsa, Niger Delta and Nigeria at large, the HRH said Engr. Wabote’s achievements have surpassed those of all his predecessors.

The Atakparama-Otubor the VII of Gbaroun Clan highlighted some of the NCDMB’s Scribe’s landmark achievements to include the Oil and Gas Industrial Park at Emeyal 1 in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State as well as another Oil and Gas park at Polaku in Yenagoa Bayelsa State.

Others, he said, are ICT Centre in Okpoama in Brass Local Government Area of the state as well as Swali community which happens to be the host community of the 17-storey Nigerian Content Tower amongst others.

He also noted that under Wabote as E.S. of NCDMB, many youths have been trained across the country on skills acquisition and particularly thanked the Executive Secretary and the entire management of NCDMB for accepting to train 1,000 Bayelsans on different skills acquisition on September 2021.

On the issue of alleged scrambling between HOSTCOM and its counterpart, Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSCON), a splinter group, the traditional ruler said they are two different organizations.

He added that through the intervention of Traditional Rulers of Oil Minerals Producing Communities of Nigeria (TROPCON) with the help of the Oba of Benin Kingdom, HOSTCOM and HOSCON had settled their differences and both are working differently in peace in Bayelsa State.

On insinuation in some quarters that he has been instigating aggrieved youths against the NDMB, the traditional ruler said such allegations were not only untrue but mere figments of the imaginations of those who are hell-bent on straining the good relationship HOSTCOM in Bayelsa State has enjoyed with Engr Simbi Wabote and the management of the Board.

He called on NCDMB to disregard such rumors and continue with the warm relationship that had existed with the two organizations, expressing optimism that the NCDMB would train the 1,000 youths as promised come September 27th.

Kerekobunah also commended the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva for working in concert with the Executive Secretary of NCDMB for Nigerians and Bayelsans in particular.
