Speaking to newsmen during a peaceful protest in his community, Paramount Ruler of the community, Chief Ibu Michael described as false, claims by the police that the deceased is a criminal who masterminded a robbery incident that occurred on 21 September, 2021, in Biogbolo, stating that he has no record of criminality.

He emphasized that the massive turn out of all members of the community is a testament of the worthy character of the deceased who to the best of the knowledge of the community has not been involved in criminal activities.

On the claims of the health challenge of the deceased, Chief Michael flawed the police, saying the late Oviteme was healthy as at the time of his arrest and wondered why the police has failed to provide any medical report to support their claim about his health.

He reiterated his call on the state government to intervene on the matter and ensure that this death does not go down as another unresolved murder case as well as to secure the release of the other five persons still in the custody of the police to avoid a similar scenario.

Also Speaking, a member of the Biogbolo Council of Chief, Chief Jonah Basil described as unfortunate the statement credited to the police which claimed that he died as a result of illness, wondering why the statement could not even mention the name of the hospital he was taken to or produce a medical report to back theory claim.

He decried the activities of “Operation Puff Ader”  and called on relevant authorities to scrutinize their activities and bring to book those found wanting in the death of Ovieteme.

In his remarks, CDC Chairman Omosinivie Steve Ogbara stated that all community is asking for is justice for the deceased and all those arrested and detained illegally.
