Bayelsa to host Federal Public Service Games in Nov

Bayelsa State is expected to host this year’s edition of the annual Federal Public Service Games if the proposal of the organizers receive the attention of Governor Douye Diri.
Bayelsa State would have hosted the 2020 edition but the political expediency at the time paved the way for Kano State to grab the opportunity.
According to a memo addressed to the governor via the office of Head of Service, Bayelsa State, the organizers reiterated the choice of Bayelsa State to host the 40th edition slated for November 26, to December 4, 2021.
Bayelsa State is offered the opportunity to host not just because of its overwhelming records in sports development and performance at national and international level, but the outstanding security and prevailing serenity.
According to the Federal Public Service Games (FEPSGA), Comrade Aloku Amaebi, the festival is a practical steps to provide a platform for public servants in the country to  interact, share and exchange social and cultural activities outside the office environment.
It is also a way to engage in mass participation in sports, promote mental and physical wellbeing of the public servants for greater productivity.
He sated that the games promote unity, friendship and the nation’s workforce,thereby contribute to the development of sports in Nigeria.
Amaebi explained that the enormous benefits of hosting games can never equitable in monetary indices, appealing to the government to utilize the offer.
Games expected to be competed for are football, Tennis, Table tennis, badminton, handball, Ayoo, volleyball, draughts, athletics, chess,darts, squash, and Scrabble.
