Bayelsa State Local Government Service Commission has concluded it’s three-Day Training/Workshop held in Yenagoa for Internal Auditors and Accounts of the eight Councils, Treasures of the thirty-two Rural Development Authorities.
Other participants were Director of Finance and an Internal Auditor local government Pension’s Board as well as Director of Finance and one Internal Auditor Local Government Service Commission.
Speaking during the event, Chairman of the local government Service Commission, Chief Lambert Ototo said the essence of the workshop is to make the Internal Audit Departments functional at the local government level.
While stressing the need for participants to understand basic principles of the control mechanism in their profession, Chief Ototo reiterated the need for punctuality to work and exhibition of high level of discipline towards responsibilities assigned.
In a remark, Commissioner representing Sagbama LGA in the Commission, Prince Austin Igbagara noted that due to series of petitions against Office holders during and after their tenures, proper financial accounting in the system must be taking seriously.
Commenting, Director of Training in the Commission, Chief Inenyo Yousuo said the workshop was geared towards ensuring effective service delivery in the local government system.
The resource persons who took turn to deliver their lectures were former Auditor General for Local Government and Training Consultant, Sir Seiyefa Doumu, Head of Account Department, Niger Delta University Amassoma, Bayelsa State, Associate Professor Paymaster Bingilar and Director, Office of The Auditor General for Local Government, Bayelsa State, Mr Andrew Yeibri
