The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa state is not factionalized, the Secretary of the Extraordinary Caretaker Committee, Mr. Alabo Martins said in an interview with one of our correspondents in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital.
His position is coming on the heels of alleged opening of factional Secretariat at Biogbolo along the Isaac Boro Expressway by a one time Vice Chairman, Central, Ebierin Fala Itubo and a former Deputy Chairman, Chief Ogeibiri Orubebe.
According to Alabo, the Minister for State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva remains the leader of the party in the state, stressing that the party operates fully at the state Secretariat located at Yenizue-gene along the Melford Okilo Expressway in Yenagoa.
“He calls himself Chairman of the party, that tells you that they don’t know what they are doing. Have they attended NEC meetings any day? That’s to tell you that they are jokers,” he said.
Alabo noted that Jotham Amos remains the Chairman of the Extraordinary Caretaker Committee, adding that the duo of Orubebe and Itubo were suspended from the party for antiparty activities last year and therefore have no locus to claim any positions in APC.
“The Secretariat you are talking about is that of one of APC’s governoship aspirants, Hon. Heineken Lokpobiri in the last election and not a state Secretariat as they claimed,” he noted.
