The member representing Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency in the Nigerian House of Representatives, Hon. Preye Oseke says his political affiliation is secondary to his love for Bayelsa state.
The federal lawmaker, who was elected on the platform of the all Progressives Congress (APC), made the assertion on Wednesday when he joined other national legislators elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to celebrate the inaugural commercial flight to the Bayelsa International Airport, Amassoma.
Oseke and Hon. Israel Sunny-Goli representing Brass/Nembe Federal Constituency both of whom are of the APC joined Governor Douye Diri, Senator Moses Cleopas (PDP) representing Bayelsa Central, Chief Fred Agbedi (PDP) representing Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency, Hon. Fred Obua (PDP) representing Ogbia Federal Constituency and other PDP stalwarts in a United Nigeria aircraft from the Mortala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, and landed at the Bayelsa new airport.
The inaugural commercial aircraft touched ground about 3:45pm amidst jubilation by a waiting crowd who thronged the airport to witness the first landing of a plane on commercial basis.
Oseke in a goodwill message charged politicians to place the development of Bayelsa state above their political interests, urging them to shun politics of bitter.
“In the National Assembly, we represent every session of Bayelsa state. Therefore, Bayelsa comes first before politics,” he said.
He thanked the state governor, Senator Douye Diri, for making commercial flight to the state airport a reality.
